nyc gift show: day two

Whew. Day two.

Tired. Sore feet. Blurry eyed. Aisle upon aisle of STUFF: leather purses, faux leather purses, canvas purses, recycled water bottle purses, bicycle tire wallets, xmas ornaments, towels, wind-up toys, jewelry, eye glasses, pillows, pajamas, shopping bags, candles, halloween decorations, night lights, wind chimes, scarves, slippers, candy, more jewelry and purses, books….all that and much more. That’s the New York International Gift Fair. An Ann Arbor Art Fair times a million….or thereabouts. Overwhelming.

Here’s what I found today:

New to the show and hailing from Flower Mound, TX is Redhouse Ranch with big silver milagro necklaces inspired by peace and big spaces. I think you are just gonna love these for yourselves and for gifts.

Here’s a brilliant concept: “make love not trash.” I’ve got totes coming in that you are going to grab and go….and make a great statement too!

Angela from Maruca Design, hailing from Boulder CO, and I had a moment of fun seeing each other again. And you’re going to have your moments of fun seeing the new fall designs and colors!

You know the jute purses with the love nature slogan on them that we’ve loved as summer bags? Well, now there’s a huge messenger bag/overnight bag with the same slogan, in canvas with recyclable P.U. trim. I love them!

Oh man. I found the softest of soft faux leather handbags. Kinda makes me wonder what to do about the Melie Bianco bags I found in Chicago. Just take a look…and get ready to feel them in October…they’re pretty darn fabulous! (this is a terrible picture that doesn’t do them justice at all)

The fall/winter Espe wallets are as cute as ever!

I found something brand new and wonderful from Goody Goody! The Richmond CA sisters put on their thinking caps and came up with some great new gift and grab/go items: really terrific eyeglass holders…and..long wallets. These will be big holiday gifts guaranteed!

I know I found some great clothing in Chicago just one week ago. Who woulda thunk I’d find these baby-fine soft cotton skirts and tunics in the bestest of colors? Not exactly winter wear, but yummy on your skin….and pocketbook!

Not to be worn with the soft Indian cotton, but perfect for cold winter days when you need some cheering up: Lisa B’s gorgeous cashmere blend socks will make even the worst winter day a wee bit better! And there’s even some for your little baby. Lisa designs her wares in her big ‘ole barn on her farm in Honesdale PA.

Jem’s latest Highway bag collection is very pretty muted colors, some of the same popular styles and some great new ones for Highway bag fans to drool over. Jem lives and works right here in NYC.

The Tokyo Bay watches have been such a hit with Heavenly Metal shoppers, I ordered new colors in the Tram and Tramette watches.

And of course I never pass by Dixie and Ann pushing their Baggallini wares! The two infamous former flight attendants keep coming up with great new styles to make our lives function just a teence bit better! Get ready. They’re on their way now!

OK. That’s enough! There’s more, but I should keep some surprises for you, shouldn’t I? BTW, the request for more little initial charms: mission accomplished! They are very different and sure to please you.

Here’s how day two ended: dinner at The Frying Pan on the barge at Pier 26 with Eric and Denise Silva and their sweet baby boy Kai (I’m in love) and Kathryn Arnett. What a wonderful combo!

  1. Where do I start? I can’t wait to see the new items from some of my favorites you’ve shown here – maruca, highway, goody goody, and Lisa B. I am still enjoying the pieces by all of these folks (that I’ve purchased from you!)

I think I need a new wallet from Espe too!

As usual you always find the perfect treasures!

The Redhouse Ranch necklaces sound intriguing…especially after having lived in Austin, Texas for 10 years before moving to Ann Arbor. Speaking of moving, Vicki, I am back after our family’s one year sabbatical in Geneva, Switzerland! So, I haven’t been avoiding your store, it was just too far to travel. But, not any more!

  8. Cathy Chow says:

Can one person own too many bags? I hope not. I always love the new Maruca designs and the faux leather purses look great too!

    Hi Vicki!

Your trip looks like it was amazing. I’ve been a big fan of Queen Bee for years and even after living in Washington just a state away from them I never was able to make a visit. Lucky you!

And, I NEED one of those milagro necklaces. That kind of thing is so hard to find around here. Can’t wait to stop in!
